Volunteers Needed for Town Committees

The Town is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission and other citizen committees.
The Town of Paradise Valley is seeking residents interested in sharing their time and experience by serving on one of the Town’s advisory committees. Throughout its 49 year history, the Town has benefitted from a high level of community involvement. This spirit of volunteerism has helped preserve the Town’s original mission to maintain a quiet residential community respectful of its natural desert surroundings, while at the same time guiding policy changes to address the needs of a changing demographic.

By the end of October, the Mayor and Council must make 23 appointments or reappointments to various committees. These include four Planning Commissioners who review land use cases; three Board of Adjustment members who hear Zoning Code appeals; three members of the Water Utility Committee; three members of the Arts Advisory Committee; two members of the Historical Advisory Committee; and various other committees. Committee terms are staggered with a portion of the membership appointed annually. Term lengths vary depending on the committee, but are generally three years.

Residents are invited to apply online by expressing interest in serving on as many committees as they wish. Brief descriptions of each committee is located on the Volunteer Opportunities page. The application deadline is September 15. Appointments will be made October 14. Applications will be kept on file for one year to provide a pool of candidates for consideration of appointment to other committees in the event vacancies become available.

For more information, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 480-348-3610.
